Steve Shannon, M.D., is board certified in pain management, in physical medicine and rehabilitation, as well as in electro diagnostic medicine (EMG studies) – he is also certified in medical acupuncture for pain management. Steve Shannon, M.D., was a Colonel in the Army Medical Corps when he retired in 2003 after 20 years of service. He earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland and did his PM&R residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He received numerous awards in the Army, including a research award for his work in studying Myofascial Pain Syndrome.
Steve Shannon, M.D., is skilled in many techniques designed to treat all types of chronic and cancer pain including complementary treatments such as acupuncture, prolotherapy, botulinum toxin injections, and ETOIMS (electrical twitch-obtaining intra-muscular stimulation).
