Damean Freas, D.O. – Chief Executive Officer
Damean Freas, D.O., is the Chief Executive Officer for Kure Pain LLC. He is board certified and fellowship trained in pain medicine. Dr. Freas attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and performed his medical residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania. His fellowship training was completed at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan.
In 2016, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan appointed Dr. Freas as the Chairman, Maryland Board of Physicians. The Maryland Board is the third largest in the country in terms of the number of licensed professionals that they oversee. Dr. Freas is the youngest Chairman in the Board’s history.
Dr. Freas is listed as one of the “150 Pain Management Physicians to Know” by Becker’s ASC Review. He was also rated one of the “Rising Stars of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation” for Washington DC-Baltimore-Northern Virginia by Washington Post Magazine. In 2011, Dr. Freas was voted What’s Up Annapolis and What’s Up Eastern Shore magazine TOP DOC by his peers.
Dr. Freas specializes in intervention therapies such as epidural injections, joint injections, nerve blocks and EMG/NCV tests. Dr. Freas was selected as one of “America’s Top Physicians” by the Consumer Research Council of America. He served as President of Maryland’s Chapter of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and is on the Board of Directors for Maryland Hall.
Paul Davies, M.D., Chairman, Board of Directors
Paul W. Davies, M.D. is board certified in pain management. He is one of the few fellowship trained pain specialists in the country. Dr. Davies was a post-doctoral fellow in pain management at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Manchester, England and has done residencies at the University of Pittsburgh, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Davies has been appointed by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley as the chair of the Natalie M. LaPrade Medical Marijuana Commission. This twelve member commission will seek and review proposals from academic research centers who will participate in the medical marijuana program. The commission will also examine issues related to the program and oversee its implementation.
In addition, Dr. Davies was recently published in both Maryland Family Doctor Magazine and Maryland Physicians Magazine. Dr. Davies was selected as one of “America’s Top Physicians” by the Consumer Research Council of America and voted What’s Up Annapolis magazine TOP DOC by his peers in 2009.
He serves on the advisory board of Maryland Physicians Magazine and an active supporter of the Arthritis Foundation.
The City of Annapolis awarded Dr. Davies with a Citation of Merit for providing free health care to the medically underserved in Anne Arundel County.
Doris Cope, M.D. – Sr. Vice President for Clinical Affairs
Dr. Cope is double-board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, a life member of the Academy of Anesthesiology and has been listed among the “Best Doctors in America” every year since 1998.
She is one of the top pain doctors in the United States and has been featured on national television, radio and featured in numerous magazines and newspapers.
Dr. Cope led one of the top pain medicine programs in the country at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), serving as a professor in the department of anesthesiology. She has written dozens of articles and abstracts on anesthesiology, chronic pain and pain medicine in top medical journals.
Dan Bowen – Chief Financial Officer
Dan Bowen is Kure Pain Management’s Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, Dan oversees the accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, human resources and information technology. Dan has industry knowledge in acute care, long-term care, home care, rehabilitation, behavioral health, insurance, dental and real estate areas. Dan is also experienced in a variety of corporate tasks including treasury functions, systems design, company formation, and acquisition due diligence and negotiations, in addition to traditional CFO duties. Prior to joining Kure, he was CFO for Onsite Health and Salisbury Management. He also held various financial executive roles with Kaiser Permanente, The Asbury Group and Adventist Healthcare. Dan received a BS in accounting from the University of Maryland, Certified Public Accountant license, and a Master’s of Science from Johns Hopkins University School of Business.
Kamran A Saraf MD – Executive Vice President
Dr. Saraf is board certified and fellowship trained in Pain Management. Originally from Maryland, Dr. Saraf completed Medical School and his Anesthesiology residency at the University of Miami, Miami FL. He obtained a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown University. He went on to pursue a fellowship in Pain Management at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA in 2010.
Dr. Saraf is a recipient of the Maryland Senatorial Scholarship and the University of Miami Academic Achievement Scholarship. He was inducted into multiple national honor societies and served on various boards and committees throughout his medical education. He speaks three (3) languages and is medically fluent in Spanish.
Ehsan Abdeshahian MD – Vice President of Provider Relations
Ehsan Abdeshahian, M.D. is fellowship trained and specializes in pain management and sports medicine. Dr. Abdeshahian completed Medical School before doing his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at State University of New York Downstate in New York City. He then pursued a fellowship in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Dr. Abdeshahian has an interest in anti-aging and regenerative medicine. When he’s not helping patients, Dr. Abdeshahian enjoys outdoor activities, playing basketball and traveling.
